Provide infrastructure in new panchayats in Hanamkonda : TDP

Update: 2018-07-14 05:30 IST

Hanamkonda: Telugu Desam Politburo member Revuri Prakash Reddy criticised the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government for its unilateral approach in identifying new gram panchayats. Without really ensuring the proper infrastructure and staff, there is no use with the new gram panchayats, he said, speaking to media persons here on Friday.

“In the name of taking administration to the doorsteps of the people, the TRS government carved out smaller districts unscientifically. Even after almost two years, the government is yet to provide required staff and infrastructure in the new districts,” Reddy said.

Although the clerical staff plays a vital role in the administration, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is yet to make a move to fill the vacant posts. The government is trying to postpone recruitment although there was a dire need for the clerical staff, he said.

He demanded the government to recruit village revenue officers, village assistants and panchayat secretaries who play a critical role in rural administration. The government also failed to provide salaries to Sarpanches and MPTCs for the last six months, he alleged.

The TRS government is diluting the spirit of gram swaraj, Reddy said, referring to the Rs 21.76 crore funds allocated for all the local bodies. Moreover, the State government diverted the funds provided by the 15th Finance Commission funds to the local bodies towards electricity bill, he alleged. As a result, development of the villages has come to a grinding halt, he added.

State General Secretary Bandi Pullaiah, State Organising Secretary Gattu Prasad Babu, Presidents of Mahabubabad and Bhupalpally districts Kondapally Ramchender Rao and Chada Ragunad Reddy, senior leaders Pulluri Ashok, Bhukya Sunitha, Jatoth Santhosh Naik, Md.
