ABVP activists stage protest for release of fee reimbursement dues in Mahbubnagar
Mahbubnagar: Students affiliated to the Akhila Bharatiya Vidhyarthi Parishad (ABVP) staged a sit-in protest near the District Collectorate here on Wednesday. The agitators blocked the traffic on the main road. The students were agitating in support of their demand for release of fee reimbursement dues and scholarships.
While taking out a huge rally from Ambedkar junction to District Collectorate, a large number of college students blocked all the roads and highways in the district headquarters. The protest led to vehicular movement coming to a grinding halt.
ABVP district Secretary Sridhar said, “Ever since the TRS coming to power, the students were facing hardship due to not releasing scholarships in time. Many students had to drop out of college half-way through academic year.
We are demanding that the State government understand the crisis facing students and release the pending fee reimbursement dues of Rs 1168 crore. Or else we will further intensify our fight; continue our protest until the government releases all the pending scholarships.”
The student leader also demanded that the State government exercise control over the private school managements and impose strict regulations with regard to tuition fees. “There is no proper tuition fee regulation for the private school managements.
They are collecting huge fee form students and the poor parents who are not able to pay fees are being deprived of education. Therefore, we are demanding the government that it immediately keep the private school managements under control. He also demanded that those who were involved in the EAMCET entrance exam paper leakage scam be immediately brought to book.”
