Village elders fix the price for rape

 If you thought Khap panchayats are limited to North India only, think again!! A girl was repeatedly raped in Narayanpet of Mahabubnagar. Instead of doing justice, the village elders asked the culprit to pay Rs 2.5 lakh to the girl’s family.

The girl’s parents wanted to approach the police. But, the village elders dissuaded them and held a kangaroo court on Wednesday. The elders ruled that the culprit’s family would pay Rs 2.50 lakh to the girl’s parents towards compensation. The culprit’s family paid an advance of Rs 20000 and said they would pay the remainder in three months
