Terrorists attack Army camp, kill an officer
In an early morning action, two terrorists sneaked into the family quarters of an Army camp in Jammu Kashmir’s Sunjwan camp. They fired indiscriminately and killed a junior officer. Three others, including killed officer’s daughter, were injured.
According to security officials, terrorists fired at the security personnel at the bunker at about 4.55 am and sneaked into the area. Prima facie, it appears to be a Jaish-e-Mohammed operation. This is the first attack in Jammu in 2018. The police have cordoned off the area and have launched an operation to track down the terrorists. The authorities have announced the closure of the schools in the nearby areas.
The area is in the heart of Jammu city and is close to the Jammu-Pathankot highway. Sources said the terrorists entered from the rear side to enter the camp. The same camp was attacked in 2003 by the terrorists. As many as 12 soldiers lost their lives and seven men were injured in that incident.
there was no specific information that they would strike this station in Jammu. As Jammu is close to the International Border, it becomes easier for terrorists to escape, police said.
