TDP leader involves in performing cockfights, 7 arrested

West Godavari: Tension prevailed in Parimella village in Pentapadu mandal here in the district when the police have arrested a group of people for organising cockfights. 

Although the festival concluded a month ago, some section of people have been conducting the animal sport for money. 

It is learnt that Tadepalligudem AMC director and TDP leader Satyanarayana was among seven others who were taken into the police custody. The TDP workers and leaders staged a protest before the police station alleging that the accused were beaten up by the cops after being shifted to police station. 

Satyanarayana's family members alleged that the former was badly beaten up by the police. The police have seized 12 two-wheeler vehicles and Rs 9,600 in cash.
