Gambling spreading among women

Visakhapatnam: If you thought that gambling is limited only to men, think again. Increasingly, women too taking to this game in a big way. What began as a secret rendezvous among some North Indian women, has now become a favourite pastime of local women too. 

Not just those from upmarket segments, but even those from the middle class are taking to gambling in a big way. 

They are using social media like Whatsapp to plant and conduct gambling.

In many cases, women are losing heavily in gambling and are getting mired in debts. Recently, a woman from Kancharapalem became so heavily indebted that the money lenders had literally staged a dharna in front of her home. 

Sources say that gambling is rampant in Muralinagar, Kancharapalem, Madhavadhara, Rajendranagar, Seetamma Dhara, MVP Cololy and Arilova.
