KTR launches Tata Boeing aerospace centre at Adibatla

Telangana IT Minister KT Rama Rao on Thursday inaugurated Tata Boeing aerospace centre at Adibatla in Hyderabad. 

The inaugural ceremony had Union Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Tata Group former chairman Ratan Tata, state Ministers and government officials in attendance.

A joint venture between Tata Advanced Systems and Boeing Defence Space and Security, the facility set up in 13 acres, at a reported cost of Rs 200 crores will manufacture and export of Apache attack helicopter along with the Spare parts of the Boeing AH-64 fleet.

With the launch, the world’s famous airline manufacturing company, Aircraft Parts Manufacturing Unit of Boeing is ready to be operational in Hyderabad.

The manufacturing unit is set up in the nation’s first Aerospace SEZ, sprawling in 250 acres in Adibatla village of Ranga Reddy district. 

Addressing the gathering, KTR shared his delight for Boeing choosing Hyderabad as the preferred destination.

He stated that while the facility will manufacture aerostructures for the Apache helicopters, they hope to take it a step forward and manufacture a full-blown aircraft in the future.

Calling Telangana a hotbed for innovation, KTR mentioned the state and Hyderabad’s innovations including the largest defence manufacturing ecosystem, India’s largest technology incubator T-Hub and the current focus on setting up India’s largest prototyping facility called T-works.

Stating that Telangana is leveraging its strength in aerospace and defence, the Minister said that they look forward to setting up an exclusive centre for innovation in this sector also.

He further sought the Centre’s support in the state’s initiative on defence electronics and defence incubator they are planning to set up in Hyderabad.
