Hyderabad man held after attempting to sexually exploit minor girl

Update: 2018-03-02 17:33 IST

A 22-year-old degree student attempted to sexually exploit a minor girl by threatening to make her morphed pictures public.

The suspect, Sohail Hussain met the victim through Facebook in 2014 posing as a woman. The girl, assuming she was talking to a woman, shared certain personal information.

Upon learning her secrets, Hussain demanded her to meet him personally but when she refused, he threatened to morph her pictures and make them public.

While he was arrested back then and released on bail, Hussain once again contacted her recently by creating a fake account on Instagram.

As he began threatening her again, the victim, fearing for her relatives, accepted to meet him.

However, she approached her parents, who in turn lodged a complaint with the police after he tried to exploit her sexually.

A case has been registered under the Indian Penal Code, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Information Technology Act.
The accused has been produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody.
