Crop Investment scheme is a great gift for farmers: Pocharam

Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy on Tuesday answered the questions raised by the members on the question of crop investment during Question Hour in the Legislative Assembly.

He said that under the Crop Investment Scheme, which is not available in any of the States, the government has decided to give Rs 4,000 rupees per acre to the farmers. The Minister stated the Telangana government is the only government in the world giving investment subsidies to farmers adding that this is a great gift for Telangana farmers. 

Srinivas Reddy said that in every village, local distributors will be provided with checks for farmers. The budget for this scheme, Rs. 12,000 crores have been proposed.

The minister said that the scheme will be implemented from rainy season and will benefit 72,13,000 farmers across the state. He said that they are implementing a Crop Investment Scheme without collecting the paddy at the farmer. 

The minister said the government's goal is to save farmers with self-esteem. He said, “We have identified one crore 12 lakh acre land under Part A. Order checks are issued by six banks. This scheme is applicable to peanut and sugarcane crop. The second crop will also be assisted by crop investment.”
