IAS officer takes up restoration of MJ Market in Hyderabad

The Mozzam Jahi Market is all set to go for ‘heritage restoration’. Based on the advice of Municipal Administration & Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao, senior IAS officer Arvind Kumar.

Kumar, currently Principal Secretary (MA&UD), announced on Twitter on Monday that the Mozzam Jahi Market is all set for a new lease of life.

Seeking suggestions and participation of Hyderabadis in this regard, Kumar has set a timeframe of three to four months and even shared an email id for those interested to participate in this effort - mjmarket.restoration@gmail.com. 

With KTR retweeting the announcement, the move has garnered an impressive response in just a few hours. Mr Kumar even shared that he saved the current pictures of the market so that he could compare them with the images after restoration.

He even responded to suggestions and stated that the stone structures would be restored to their original colour, without the involvement of artificial colours or paints and also the century-old water taps too would be restored.

Mr Kumar also informed that issues such as the erection of banners, cables and water leakage were being attended to with local public also making effort to being involved in the cause.
