Police bust drug racket run by engineering dropout in Hyderabad
Special Operations Team of Rachakonda busted a drug racket being run by an engineering dropout, Batchu Ravi Kumar who was arrested on Tuesday.
7 grams of Cocaine, 10 LSD blots and 2 Kgs of Ganja (Narcotic Substance) along with a scooter was seized from his possession.
The suspect, who had been targeting engineering students in different parts of the city was procuring narcotic drugs from Goa and Ganja from Vizag and Khammam agency areas.
Hailing from Nalgonda district, Ravi Kumar was taking orders from clients through WhatsApp using code names - Cocaine and LSD as ‘SCORE’ and Ganja as ‘GREEN’.
Having completed Intermediate at Nalgonda, he moved to Hyderabad for engineering and joined in Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Technology (JNIT) in 2013 in CSE group.
He got addicted to narcotic drugs after travelling to Goa along with his friends and developed friendship with Goa-based drug peddlers who supplied him the drugs to sell in Hyderabad.
Ravi Kumar sold the drugs only to students in his known circles and made money from them, having supplied drugs to more than 60 students in the city in the past two years.
Later, he turned to Ganja smuggling, obtaining it from Vizag and Khammam.
