TDP seeks apology from Vijaya Sai Reddy for touching PM Modi's feet
Telugu Desam MPs reacted strongly against YSR Congress MP Vijaya Sai Reddy who touched Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s feet.
Faulting this move, the TDP MPs demanded an unconditional apology to the people of Andhra Pradesh as Vijaya Sai Reddy hurt the self-respect of Telugu people by touching the feet of PM Modi.
They termed it as an insult to AP particularly when the people are protesting for special category status, which the Modi government has refused repeatedly.
PM Modi who attended the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday was greeted the BJP and other MPs, however, once he had taken his seat, the YSRCP MP went up to him and touched his feet.
Demanding an apology, TDP MPs CM Ramesh, YS Chowdary and others alleged that the YSRCP is not sincere in seeking the special status for AP, despite having given a notice for a no-confidence motion against the NDA government.
Vijaya Sai Reddy, however, countered by alleging that Mr Ramesh had previously touched the feet of Finance Minister Arun Jaitley after he and Mr Chowdhary held talks with the PM and FM in the House.
He even went on allege that AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu got stay orders in 18 cases by ‘managing’ the institutions and demanded him to prove his innocence in the cash for vote case.
