Congress demands relief to rain-hit farmers
Hyderabad:The Pradesh Congress Committee’s Kisan Kheth Mazdoor wing on Saturday requested the government to provide relief to the farmers who lost crops due to untimely rains. Kisan wing Chairman M Kodanda Reddy and MLA Vamshichand Reddy submitted a memorandum to Chief Secretary in this regard.
They said that due to the hailstorm that has taken place in the State in the past few days, farmers of paddy, maize, mango, soya bean, vegetables and orchards have suffered heavy losses. The damage has been seen in Nalgonda, Ranga Reddy, Khammam and Warangal districts. The Revenue staff did not enumerate the losses being suffered by the farmers.
They demanded that the farmers be given a compensation of Rs 25,000 per acre to paddy, Rs 35,000 per acre to vegetable and Rs 50,000 to mango and othersorchards.
