Kodandaram seeks Union Ministry's intervention to hold TJS meet

The recently-launched Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) has approached the Union Defence Ministry after being denied permission to hold a public meeting at Parade Grounds in Secunderabad.

Scheduled to be held on April 29, to mark the party’s launch, the meeting was refused permission by the Hyderabad police, hence the TJS have written to the Union Defence Ministry, seeking permission to hold the meet.

The party was already denied permission in the Saroornagar Stadium citing another event being held there while the NTR stadium was told not to be used for political meets. The TJS is yet to receive a response on the LB Nagar stadium.

Addressing the media,  the chairman of the Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) and TJS chief Kodandaram said, only TJAC and TJS are being denied permissions even though religious events and other public gatherings, including political meetings of other parties and organisations are granted permissions.

Pointing out that CPM was given permission to hold its public meeting at LB Nagar, he questioned as to why TJS is being denied the constitutionally guaranteed right to hold a meeting.

Kodandaram has filed a petition with the Hyderabad High Court on the issue and the Court responded asking the Telangana government to clear its stand on granting permission to the TJS.
