The All India Federation of Self-Financing Technical Institutions (AIFSTI) has warned students regarding fraud consultants.

General secretary of AIFSTI, KVK Rao has written a letter to Telangana education minister Kadiyam Srihari along with other higher education department officials on Tuesday highlighting the fraudulent methods of consultants and public relation officers (PROs).

According to the letter, "The PROs/consultants are purchasing SSC, intermediate, degree certificates from students and parents for 5,000 to 10,000 by assuring them admission in a good college with free hostel or free transportation. These consultants are entering into agreements with the technical institutions which do not comply with any of the All India Council of Technical Education and affiliation norms.”

The letter further stated, "It is the duty of all the authorities to educate and advise the students and parents not to sell their certificates and to visit as many colleges as possible, to assess all the parameters vis-a-vis the fee being charged by the colleges. They can finally take a conscious decision which will safeguard future of their wards.”

Warning the students to be wary of such tactics by consultants and PROs, the AIFSTI mentioned that the consultants are entering into agreements with various technical institutions that do not follow the given norms of the All India Council of Technical Education and its affiliates.
