Old City to undergo major transformation, KCR allocates Rs 1,000 cr

The Old City is all set to undergo a major transformation after Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao allocated Rs 1,000 crore on the Purana Shahar on Monday during the review meeting held at Pragathi Bhavan.

He directed HMWS&SB, GHMC, Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Ltd, police and health departments to prepare a plan with solutions to all the issues hogging the Old City.

KCR further informed his plan to visit the Old City before the Ramzan month to lay foundation stones for various developmental works.

Observing that the Old City has been neglected by successive governments with little change in civic infrastructure in terms of roads, drinking water, drainage and electricity in the last 30 years, the Chief Minister asserted that the state government is committed to developing the Old City.

Apart from this, the officials were directed to complete Rs 1,200-crore metro rail works connecting MGBS to Falaknuma, the Musi riverfront development works costing Rs 1,600 crore, construct three flyovers, seven drinking water reservoirs to ensure supplies to every household, replace the old pipelines, widening of nalas and drains at Rs 200 crore and set up 200 Basti clinics in Old City.
