Harish Rao: Rythu Bandhu scheme will benefit 58 lakh farmers

In an awareness programme on Rythu Bandhu scheme held in Sangareddy district on Monday, Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao called upon the officials and public representatives to make the investment support scheme for agriculture a grand success.

The officials and public representatives of Sangareddy, Medak and Siddipet district along with MLAs, MPs, Collectors, MROs, MPDOs attended the programme.

Stating that the scheme will benefit more than 58 lakh farmers in Telangana covering about 1.42 crore acres, he said that the programme would be held from May 10 to May 17 where passbooks and title deeds will be handed over to the farmers along with the bearer cheques of Rs 4,000.

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will inaugurate the programme in the Medak district.

Harish Rao said that the farmers were free to encash the amount and bankers were instructed not to adjust the cash for any other loans adding that the government spent about Rs 100 crore for the printing of cheque books alone.

Instructing the officials to inform the farmers in advance regarding the distribution of cheques in the villages, the Minister directed them to distribute pamphlets and set up flexi boards explaining the programme.
