In a surprisingly conducted checks, officials in Telangana raided 53 junior colleges on Tuesday to ensure the institutes were following the regulations declared by the state and not conducting special classes during the summer vacation.

District Intermediate Education Officers (DIEOs) inspected the colleges and as per the details, four colleges were locked down for conducting first and second year inter classes in Hyderabad while several of them were issued show cause notices after being strictly instructed to not conduct classes for incoming second-year students.

Notices were also issued to those colleges which were found conducting classes and were asked to meet the Secretary of the Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE).

According to the circular issued earlier this month, the TSBIE stated that strict action will be taken against private junior colleges which conduct classes during summer vacations which would last from March 29 to May 31.

The board said that the students should be given a break from their stressful schedule and no classes should be held, except for students appearing for competitive examinations.
