IMD attributed the rising temperature to the north-south wind discontinuity which runs from east Vidarbha to interior Tamil Nadu across Telangana.

As per the IMD stats, the number of heatwave days in 2016 was 27 which reduced to 23 in 2017 and the forecast predicts that the number of heatwave days will exceed 27 this year.
