Smuggled gold worth Rs 25 lakh seized at Hyderabad airport

Gold weighing about 799 grams were seized during a search of a flight at the International airport in Hyderabad on Wednesday. 

Four pieces of gold in crude form, valued at Rs 25.54 lakh was seized on board the flight which arrived from Saudi Arabia on Tuesday. 

According to the customs officials at the airport, the gold pieces were found concealed inside the side cavity of the passenger seat and the plan was to pick it up by someone for smuggling in order to evade payment of Customs duty.
