KTR: Cases against Telangana movement activists will be withdrawn
IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao on Friday responded to a Tweet by a user, Santosh Reddy who sought support from the Telangana government to address the cases filed against activists who participated in the separate Statehood movement. The Minister assured the user that the government will ensure that cases are withdrawn immediately.
The lower court in Mahabubnagar recently sentenced a Telangana activist, Munnuru Ravi to six months imprisonment for obstructing a public servant during the agitation in 2012. Ravi was among the TRS cadre preparing for Sagara Haaram when police tried to stop the activists which resulted in a scuffle between them and a sub-inspector was injured.
The State government has already announced that cases filed against separate Statehood activists will be withdrawn.
