Massive eye screening drive planned across Telangana

Telangana government is all set to embark on an ambitious project of achieving "avoidable blindness-free status" by conducting comprehensive eye screening for the entire 3.5 crore population of the state.

As per the Government Order issued, the noble project, "Telangana Kanti Velugu," will include universal eye screening for all citizens of the state, all cases that require correction of refraction errors and also, spectacles will be distributed free of cost.

According to the GO, the state government plans to conduct surgeries in all cases of cataract, glaucoma, retinopathy, corneal disorders etc with all the services to be provided free of cost for which administrative sanction has also been accorded to the project.
