PhD scholar attempts self-immolation at Hyderabad University campus

A woman Ph.D. scholar of the University of Hyderabad allegedly attempted self-immolation at the ladies hostels in the campus on Tuesday night. 

The student was rushed to a corporate hospital and later was shifted to the burns ward in Osmania General Hospital. 

According to the reports, the victim suffered burn injuries on the back of her body and herself rushed to the washroom immediately, dousing the flames. 

It is learned that the student, hailing from Odisha, had taken admission in the Department of Plant Sciences in January 2018.

The police informed that the victim had recently tried to kill herself by consuming tablets.
