Harish Rao: Telangana has restored some 6,000 lakes under Mission Kakatiya

Irrigation Minister Harish Rao on Tuesday participated in the national convention on Rejuvenation of Krishna Waters, held at Mokshagundem Visveswaraiah Hall in Hyderabad.
Speaking at the occasion, he said that under the Mission Kakatiya scheme, Telangana has restored some 6,000 lakes improving the groundwater level in the state by 10 mts.
The Minister mentioned that Maharashtra is utilizing 100 tmc Krishna waters in Koyna Dam for electricity generation while the remaining is let out into the Arabian Sea. He, however, came up with the alternative of diverting the water in the downward flow of the river which will help in more power generation and serve a variety of other purposes.
