Hyderabad cops attacked by mob in a bid to save victims

Constable Ravi along with his two colleagues from Chandrayangutta police station were on a routine patrolling duty on Saturday night. However, a call from their superiors directed them to head to Phoolbagh in Hafeez Baba Nagar of Old City. 

They reached the spot to discover a nearly 1500-strong mob and amidst that, a transgender was lying dead and the other battling for life. 

As they tried to disperse the mob, Ravi informed that they had to endure blows punches by the mob who kept abusing them for ‘saving the kidnappers’. 

The cops managed to save the other victims despite the mob turning violent and pelted stones at them. The police resorted to lathi-charge and brought the situation under control. Kanchanbagh Inspector N Shanker and Chandrayangutta inspector Y Prakash Reddy were the other two cops who tried to convince the public not to resort to violence but were manhandled by the mob.
