Anantapur: Drunk father beats physically challenged daughter to death

A man in an intoxicated condition allegedly killed his physically disabled daughter on Tuesday night.

The horrific incident took place in Vajra Karur village of Anantapur district. The accused, Yerriswamy, a daily wager is married to Uma Devi and has two daughters and a son. Both his elder daughter Sumitra and son Yashwant are physically challenged. It is learned that Yerriswamy was depressed over this and used to come home drunk regularly and have constant fights with his wife. He even beat her and the children.

However, on Tuesday night, Yerriswami began thrashing his daughter and when his wife intervened, he beat both of them. He asked Sumitra to stand and walk but when she failed to do so, he banged her banged her head against the wall.

He even beat his younger daughter with a stick making her unconscious. The elder daughter succumbed to the injuries she sustained.

The mother along with her neighbours registered a complaint against her husband. The police arrested Yerriswami based on the complaint.
