Heat-wave conditions in Telangana push private schools to reopen on June 11

Owing to the heat wave conditions in Telangana, around 13,000 private schools are expected to extend summer vacation.

The schools are slated to re-open on June 1 but the private schools will be deferring the re-opening date to June 11. The management at the private schools, however, are planning to hold the Telangana Formation Day celebrations on a grand scale on June 2.

Speaking in this regard, general secretary, TRSMA-TS, Y Shekhar Rao said that 13,000 private school managements have decided not to reopen the schools on June 1 keeping in view the risk factor due to the heatwave conditions.

A representation has also been submitted to the Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Kadiam Srihari.

He further stated that the lost working days will be compensated in the form of reduction of the number of days for Dasara and Sankranthi holidays along with taking classes on second Saturdays.

According to the detailed academic calendar for 2018-19, he Telangana government had stated that the schools would be re-opened on June 1 instead of June 12 with the last working day is April 12, 2019, and the summer vacation will be from April 13 to May 31.
