Srikakulam: Newly-wed woman stabs her husband in the throat

A woman has been detained in Srikakulam district for stabbing her husband. The accused, Neelima married Budda Naveen Kumar on May 9 this year.

According to the police, Neelima was forced to marry Naveen against her choice as her family's economic condition was not good and were not in a position to afford dowry. But with Naveen agreeing to marry Neelima without dowry, the family gave their consent.

It is learned that Neelima married under family pressure. After spending about 20 days at her in-laws' place, Neelima returned to her parents home at Gadalam village with her husband. However, on the way, she stabbed her husband in the throat at Rail Nilayam near Kotabommali mandal and ran away. 

Locals noticed Naveen and rushed him to a nearby hospital. He was later shifted to RIMS in Srikakulam as his condition worsened.

A case was registered and the police launched an investigation. Neelima was later arrested by police near the incident spot.
