Hyderabad police left homeless person to die; four cops suspended
A homeless person was killed after police dumped him in the bushes near Abdullapurmet with both hands tied.
He later crawled to the forested area, before the scorching heat pushed him to death. The man was thrown out of a police vehicle and tossed onto a desolate roadside on May 21 and was later rushed to hospital but it was too late to save him.
The victim who was writhing in pain was noticed by a shepherd Rangaiah on May 21 and alerted the police who shifted him to Aadhar Hospital. However, he died within few hours. Locals believe that he may have been kidnapped and dumped near the forest area.
During the investigation, police found that the man was first spotted in Meerpet, where residents believing him to be a child kidnapper, tried to lynch him. The Meerpet police managed to whisk him away from the clutches of a mob. Due to his eccentric ways, the cops dumped him at Abdullapurmet and didn’t bother to release his hands which were tied with a rope.
The police are yet to find the exact cause of death as there were no external injuries on the body and are awaiting the autopsy report. However, four cops of Meerpet police station, including sub-inspectors Mohd Masiuddin, V Srinivas Reddy, Assistant Sub-Inspector Chand Pasha and Head Constable Sanjeev Reddy have been suspended in this regard.
Rachakonda commissioner Mahesh Bhagawat stated that an inquiry will be launched into the incident.
