The Andhra Pradesh Government has issued orders to hike the honorarium of legendary Telugu poet Gurajada Appa Rao’s great grandson Gurajada Venkateswara Prasad from Rs 12500 to Rs 20000. Orders to this effect were issued by the principal secretary of tourism, language and culture department Mukesh Kumar Meena.

It may be recalled that Gurajada Appa Rao’s residence was taken over by the department of culture to convert it into a museum-cum-memorial library.

The memorial library-cum-museum has been functioning since 1989 and the department has appointed Venkateswara Prasad as the manager on a contract basis. Based on his request, the honorarium has been hiked.
