Man impersonates ACB official, arrested in Hyderabad

A man who posed himself as an Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officer, in turn trying to extort money from a private school was arrested on Tuesday in Hyderabad.

The police revealed that the man, identified as Hanumanth Rao attempted to extort Rs 1.5 crore from a private school in Chanda Nagar Police Station limits.

The school authorities filed a complaint and the Hyderabad police arrested Rao.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the accused has been sent to judicial remand.

This is not the first time someone is impersonating an ACB official, as a 23-year-old man allegedly posed as an ACB official raided schools and harassed the management in Rajasthan's Kota.

Another incident came to light when a 26-year-old man, Ashish Kumar, was arrested for allegedly posing as a police officer and extorted money in north-east Delhi's Jyoti Nagar.
