Woman's leg chopped off, body found at Erragadda hospital
In a brutal murder, an unidentified woman’s body was found at the Institute of Mental Health in Erragadda on Thursday. The victim’s legs were chopped off and the severed body parts were thrown on top of the hospital building.
Locals noticed the body on Thursday and alerted the hospital staff and police.
While the hospital has 16 CCTV cameras, there was no camera covering the murder spot.
The police informed that the legs of the woman were severed above the ankles and both her feet were missing. Later, they found the severed feet of the victim on the terrace of the male open ward.
Police suspect that the assailants strangled the victim with her own saree and severed her legs using a sharp object to steal her anklets. However, the identity of the woman is yet to be ascertained and none of the locals could identify her.
As per the police investigation, the victim is not a patient of the hospital. They noticed that a portion of the hospital compound wall near the crime scene was damaged with over 100 families encroaching the hospital property and residing there. It is learned that the people living there use the hospital premises to reach the Erragadda main road with the hospital staff stating that they sometimes even attack patients.
