Heavily drunk auto-driver nabbed ferrying nine school children in Hyderabad

An auto driver was caught in a heavily inebriated condition ferrying nine school children in his vehicle in Hyderabad on Thursday.

The Hyderabad Traffic Police nabbed the driver at 8.30 am when the kids were on their way to school. His blood alcohol content (BAC) count was recorded 228 mg/100 ml in a breath analyser test which is way above than the permissible alcohol limit according to the city police - 30 mg/100 ml.

Identified as Mohd Jalal, the accused is a resident of Chandrayangutta and was driving the children to Koti.

The auto-driver’s vehicle was also seized and the parents of the children have also been informed of the incident.

The showing incident came to the fore with the police conducting a special drive against autorickshaws carrying school children. After the start of the academic year, 130 cases have been registered.
