Hyderabad: Police rescue six-month-old girl, kidnappers arrested
Police arrested five people in a child kidnapping case in Hyderabad on Thursday. The arrested include P Srinivas, a labour contractor and husband of a Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) member from Peddapalle district, P Pushpa.
His associates - G Tirupathi, a toddy tapper from Peddapalle district, B Bhumaiah, a businessman from Mancherial, G Madhusudhan Rao, a driver from Sanatnagar, and his lover, N Bhavani, from Bank Colony.
According to the police, Bhavani who has financial problems decided to kidnap a six-month-old girl she noticed with a labourer on June 10 near public toilets at Leela Nagar of SR Nagar. She discussed the plan with her lover to sell the girl for profit.
On the other hand, she spoke to Nagamani offering her a job opportunity and took her to an isolated place in the city in a car along with Madhusudhan. Later, the duo forced Nagamani out of the car and fled away with the girl.
Nagamani later lodged a complaint in SR Nagar and the police registered a kidnapping case on June 14. Based on the CCTV footage, police discovered the car was registered with a fake number and found the original number.
The police then arrested Madhusudhan, who confessed that they sold the girl to Srinivas for Rs 80,000 with the help of Bhumaiah and Tirupathi on Sunday.
The other accused were arrested and the girl was rescued.
