Mumbai rains: Two killed, five injured in tree collapse

Mumbai witnessed heavy rains on Monday with several areas getting flooded and troubled with traffic snarls and train delays during morning rush hours.

According to the India Meteorological Department in Mumbai, heavy rainfall will likely continue in some parts of the city after similar conditions over the weekend.

Due to the heavy rains, a wall collapsed at Lloyd estate in Antop Hill, Wadala. While no suffered any injuries, several cars were damaged. As per an ANI report, two people were killed and five others were injured after a tree collapsed on them at MG road due to heavy rains.

The Mumbai Police in a tweet shared that the traffic was closed at Khar subway, Santacruz division due to waterlogging and was diverted to Link Road. Malad and Andheri subway traffic was diverted to routes at Sion, Powai, Chembur, Milan Subway.

Several areas were inundated with water including Malabar Hill, Dharavi, Dadar TT, Hindmata, King Circle, Kabutarkhana at Dadar,  Nagpada, Santacruz (East), Byculla and Marol Maroshi, Andheri subway, among others. Due to the low visibility in some areas due to the rains, the Western Railway also said trains have been delayed.
