KTR: Electric feeder services to improve public transport in Hyderabad
In a move to improve public transportation in Hyderabad, a special task force is to be constituted involving officials from Transport Department, Hyderabad Metro Rail, SETWIN, and TSRTC.
The task force will evaluate the different parameters, particularly effective usage of latest technology for public transportation and submit a preliminary report in two months.
Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao on Monday held a review meeting with officials of different departments at the Metro Rail Bhavan where he stressed on the need for effective last mile connectivity for the convenience of commuters.
He emphasized on all private buses, vans, and autos utilizing electric feeder services for which charging stations should be set up at Metro stations and depots.
A plan is being prepared to set up electric feeder services in association with SETWIN, GHMC, and HMRL. KTR instructed officials to work on feeder services in the city and create awareness with signboards, which would indicate the distance to the nearest metro station. The government will soon put this into action by implementing feeder services in the high-density corridors.
