TRS govt providing better connectivity to villages: Minister Tummala

Roads and Buildings Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao on Tuesday held a review meeting in Hyderabad where he reviewed the status of road development in the state during the last four years.

He informed that the Telangana government has developed 5,800-km of the accumulated length of major district roads, state and national highways at a cost of Rs 13,000 crore of the total Rs 18,000 crore sanctioned for development of 9,000-km roads.

While he expressed satisfaction on the developed roads, he mentioned the rise in deaths being reported on these roads due to accidents.

The Minister pointed out that the TRS government had constructed 5,700-km of two-lane roads providing better connectivity to villages, compared to 6,052-km in the last 60 years. Mr Rao also shared that 508 bridges were being constructed on rivers and various other water bodies to provide uninterrupted travel with a major portion of the work already completed.
