New Chief Justice of Hyderabad High Court to assume charge
HYDERABAD: Nearly five months ago, the Supreme Court Collegium had recommended Justice Thottathil Bhaskaran Nair Radhakrishnan’s me for the Chief Justice of Hyderabad High Court.
The recommendation was cleared by the Centre and a notification was issued on Sunday, transferring him to Hyderabad High Court. Presently being the Chief Justice of Chattisgarh High Court, the new Chief Justice is likely to be sworn as Chief Justice for the States of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh by Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan on or before July 16, at Hyderabad’s Raj Bhavan.
Justice Thottathil Bhaskaran Nair Radhakrishnan was born on April 29, 1959. Both his (late) parents were lawyers and practiced at Kollam.
He completed his schooling in Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram. He secured degree in law from K.G.F. Law College, Kolar Gold Fields after completing his graduation.
In 1983, he enrolled as lawyer and dealt with cases relating to civil, constitutional and administration. In some cases, he represented banks, universities and other public institutions. He was appointed as amicus curiae in different cases. He was the Acting Chief Justice of Kerala High Court in 2016 for nearly three months, and again in 2017 for a month.
He was the Chief Justice of Chattisgarh High Court from March 18, 2017. Justice Ramesh Ranganathan had been Acting Chief Justice of Hyderabad High Court from July 30, 2016.
With Thottathil B. Radhakrishnan assuming charge as Chief Justice of Hyderabad High Court, the Hyderabad High Court will get a regular Chief Justice after nearly two years.
