Woman harassed by husband and in-laws by forcing to drink cleaning acid
HYDERABAD: On Wednesday a woman constable who is working with the Rachakonda cyber crime police was forced to drink the floor cleaning acid by her husband and in-laws, the Alwal police said. They were demanding additional dowry from her family, despite taking Rs 3 lakh cash and four tolas gold at the time of her marriage.
Alwal police has registered a case and is searching for the accused. Constable C. Rajini, 30, a resident of Bhudevi Nagar in Alwal, works with the Rachakonda cyber crime police station in LB Nagar. She had married Om Prakash, who is also a resident of Alwal, on November 23, 2017. Her family had given Rs 3 lakh cash and gold ornaments weighing four tolas as dowry at that time.
“After our marriage, I went to my in-laws’ house. A few months after the marriage, my husband and in-laws started harassing me for additional dowry, They harassed me physically and mentally, and also suspected my fidelity.” said Rajini.
She stated in her complaint to the the police that late in the night on July 9, her in-laws and husband forcefully made her consume a floor cleaning acid with an intent to kill her.
“I managed to escape and got admitted at Rush Hospital in Suchitra circle, Kompally, for treatment,” Ms Rajini said in her complaint.
Alwal inspector V. Srikanth Goud said a case has been registered based on the complaint lodged by Ms Rajini and investigation has taken up to nab the accused persons.
