Congress will involve Professionals to draft manifesto: Dr. Dasoju Sravan

Hyderabad: TPCC Chief Spokesperson Dr. Dasoju Sravan said that the Congress party would involve professionals in drafting the party's manifesto for next elections.

Making a comprehensive power-point presentation in the national convention of All India Professional Congress (AIPC) in New Delhi on Saturday, Sravan said that there has been tremendous response to the APIC across Telangana State. Sravan, who heads the Telangana chapter of APIC, said that the organisation has provided a great platform to professionals who hesitate to join active politics, but are keen on playing a role in nation building with their innovative ideas.

Besides Rahul Gandhi, AIPC National Chairman Shashi Tharoor, former union minister Milind Deora and over 100 experts from across the country were present in the convention.

Launched on 5th November, 2017, Sravan informed that the Telangana unit of All India Professional Congress (AIPC) has registered a significant growth. The Telangana unit launched 7 chapters on 10th February this year and the Number of Fellows has reached 432. It organised more than 25 events which include discussions on 'Demonetization- Disaster of  Indian Economy', Financial Resolution & Deposit Insurance Bill, 2017 and Need for Abandoning of EVMs to Save Democracy, symposium on Integrating Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s), seminar on Rights of IT Employees and Labor Laws and   Group Discussion on education and Employment Issues in Telangana. Protest was also held seeking Justice for Asifa and condemning Kathua and Unnao Rape incidents, he said.

Sravan informed that the AIPC plans to create one chapter in each Lok Sabha constituency (17 Chapters) or one chapter in each district (31 districts) in next 3-4 months. It will also constitute special Task Forces to derive inputs for election manifesto for both State and National level on various subjects.  A series of workshops on vital issues such as education, employment, health and agriculture will also be organised. With the help of Professionals, the Congress party will come up with a people's manifesto, he said.

Proposals were given to Congress president Rahul Gandhi on how to utilise the services of professionals for strengthening the party and in also evolving best policies for people. Sravan said that the Congress party should promise an accountable and transparent government as envisaged by professions and he emphasised that professionals must be given opportunities within the party hierarchy and also to content in forthcoming elections. Sravan also emphasised in order to attract the professionals to politics and in particular towards AIPC, political reforms are needed where in role of money in elections is curtailed.
