Hyderabad: Lorry Owners Association has called for an indefinite strike with various demands from July 20.

The lorry owners would be on strike from 6 am on July 20. The lorry owners are demanding the Centre to bring petroleum products like diesel under GST with tax slab of 18 per cent. They also wanted the Centre to review the the petroleum rates once in three months. The truckers want the Centre to decrease the insurance fees, which has been increased three folds.

He said that the Centre gives assurances when the truckers go on strike but ignores them completely. He also alleged that the toll gates have been increased indiscriminately. There is a toll gate for every 1

60 to 70 kilometres, resulting in burden on the  lorry owners.

Lorry owners Association president N Bhaskar Reddy demanded the state government to have single permit system in both the Telugu states.  He also demanded the state government to fulfil the written assurances given to the lorry owners earlier. He demanded the Centre not to bring changes in the Motor Vehicle Act, which prescribes hefty penalties for violation of rules.
