23 skywalks to be constructed across Hyderabad for pedestrians
Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) is moving onto its next venture after setting up Foot over Bridges (FOB) at different places in the city.
The HMDA is shifting its focus now on constructing skywalks at different junctions for the pedestrians to avail a safe and comfortable option.
23 locations have been identified so far across Hyderabad for the construction of skywalks which will be constructed in different shapes and be equipped with multiple staircases for the pedestrians to get down at desired road ends at the junctions.
Secunderabad Railway Station, Madina Junction, Dilsukhnagar junction have been identified as prime locations for constructing the skywalks. The remaining are JNTU Junction, Afzalgunj, Koti, Uppal, Paradise, Lakdikapul petrol pump, Bowenpally junction, Ameerpet, Owaisi junction, Chikalguda junction, BHEL junction, Miyapur T junction, Sangeeth Junction, Jubilee Hills Checkpost, Moazamjahi Market, RTC crossroads, SR Nagar, Khairatabad, and ECIL junctions.
Currently, the Foot over Bridges are being constructed at IDPL Bus stop, Prashanth Nagar in Balanagar, near Panama Godowns, AS Rao Nagar, Vanasthalipuram, Near Eat Street, Necklace Road, Ushodaya Super Market, and at IDA Uppal, new Modern Bakery, Uppal. Each FOB will be constructed at a minimum cost of Rs.1.5 crore.
