EAMCET leak: ABVP stages protest demanding ban on Narayana and Sri Chaitanya institutions
Students took to protest in Hyderabad at Madhapur on Tuesday demanding a ban on corporate colleges - Sri Chaitanya and Narayana.
Led by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the protest resulted in traffic jams on the road for a while. The students held up large banners and raised slogans demanding the heads of the two corporate institutions be arrested while pointing out that the accused from the EAMCET scam were employees of the two institutes.
The students were later detained by the Madhapur police and taken into preventive custody.
Earlier this month, the Crime Investigation Department (CID) arrested two more persons in connection to the EAMCET paper leak case of 2016. The accused - Veleti Vasu Babu, a dean from the Chaitanyapuri branch of the Sri Chaitanya Junior College and Kamma Venkata Narayana Rao, an agent who made recommendations for admissions in Narayana and Chaitanya.
The duo allegedly sent six students to a preparation camp in Bhubaneswar, where they were handed out the leaked question papers, at a cost of Rs 35 lakh per head.
