Hyderabad twin blasts case: 2 convicts sentenced to death
The Second Additional metropolitan sessions court today awarded death sentence to Aneeq Shafique Sayeed and Md Akbar Ismail in 2007 twin blasts case, who were convicted last week.
Meanwhile, Tariq Anjum who was the fifth accused was also convicted by the NIA court and was awarded with life imprisonment.
On September 4, the court in charge judge T Srinivasa Rao issued the verdict convicting Aneeq Shafique Sayeed and Md Akbar Ismail Chowdhari, acquitting Farooq Sharfuddin Tarkash and Mohammad Sadiq Israr Shaik.
Aneeq Shafique Sayeed (36) who hails from Bhagyodaya Nagar in Pune was the owner of a computer centre and Md Akbar Ismail Chowdhari (35) owns a mobile phone repair shop at Meetanagar in Pune, it is learned. Aneeq was convicted for planting a bomb at Lumbini Park and Akbar at Dilsukhnagar which was disposed.
A case was registered against Tariq Anjum for offering shelter to the convicted in Delhi after the blasts.
The police are still on the search of other three accused three Riyaz Bhatkal, Iqbal, Amir Reza Khan who were absconding. The twin blasts which occurred on August 25, 2007 near popular eatery place, Gokul Chat and Lumbini Park left 44 dead on spot and injured 68.
