Chennai: A 70-year old woman has approached the Madras high court against Tamil Nadu Youth Welfare and Sports Minister Balakrishna Reddy alleging land grabbing offence.

C. Anjana Reddy resident of Hosur taluk of Krishnagiri district, has alleged the pattas of 32.87 acres of agricultural land in Kempasandram village, purchased by her grandfather in 1885 and which are currently possessed by her, but the land is now illegally transferred in the names of relatives of  Bala Krishna by the district revenue authorities at the instance of the minister.

Illegality has been done even while a civil suit is pending in the Hosur sub court regarding the partition of the property, petitioner also mentioned that it is not legal and proper to effect any change in the revenue records when suits are already filed in connection with the property which is pending.

She said that “The District Revenue officer is well aware of the fact. He indeed recited this in his earlier order, but all of a sudden he had changed his mind and allowed modification in the patta at the behest of the minister”. She also wanted to call for the records of the revenue order dated March 28, 2017, and quash the same.

As an interim relief, the petitioner wanted the court to restrain the sub-registrar concerned not to permit any encumbrance on the property.
