Surrogate mother attempts suicide

Vijayawada: A controversy erupted in Vijayawada over surrogacy issue. A married woman acted as a surrogate mother, but was not paid the agreed amount. Alleging that the Karthia Hospital, which performed the procedure, has gobbled up the money, the family members of the woman odged a complaint with the police. 

Since then there have been pressures on the woman and her family members to withdraw the case. Unable to bear it any longer, the woman attempted suicide on Monday. 

She has been rushed to a hospital, where she is gradually recovering.
