1 Killed, 4 injured as cab driver rams into five at PVNR expressway

Hyderabad: A man was dead on the spot while four others seriously injured after an Uber driver in an inebriated state rammed his car into five people in the wee hours on Friday.

According to the police, the mishap occurred when the five people were laying fibre optic cable for CCTV cameras on PVNR expressway. The accused Mallikarjun Goud, who was heading to home at Shamshabad from Mehdipatnam rammed his Hyundai Eon car (TS 15 UC 1529) into the five around 1 am.

Of the five, one flung on to the car and fell from the parapet wall and died on the spot. The deceased was identified as Kattaiah and injured were Sudhakar, Suresh, J Venkat Reddy and A Muttaiah.

When the police subjected him to a breath analyser test, the reading showed 170mg/100ml. The police arrested him and sent to remand.
