Acid attack on Nalgonda woman for resisting sexual assault

A man identified as Mahesh has been arrested by the Nalgonda police for throwing acid on a 26-year-old woman as she resisted rape attempt on her. 

Going into details, the accused sneaked into the woman's house on learning she was alone and tried to sexually assault her. However, when she resisted, Mahesh threw acid on her and abused with casteist slurs. 

Neighbours who got alerted hearing the woman's screams rushed her to Devarakonda government hospital and handed over the miscreant to the police. The police registered a case under relevant sections of IPC and sent him to remand.

The victim earlier lodged a complaint with the  police against the accused who threatened her to withdraw the case, it is learned.
