HC directs GHMC to submit progress report on protection of lakes in Hyderabad

 The Hyderabad High Court on Thursday directed the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and HMDA authorities to submit a report on the protection of lakes which is under progress.

The bench comprising of TBN Radha Krishnan and Justice SV Bhatt issued the statement over the petition filed by Lubna Sarwath seeking the protection of rivers and lakes.

The High Court directed the officials to protect the lakes by cleaning and also preventing them from industrial wastage. The court also told the officials to destroy the channels carrying effluent water. 

Adjourning the hearing by four weeks, the court asked to submit the report within the specified time.
