Karnataka women's panel chief urges CM Kumaraswamy to implement strict dress codes for male tourists.

BENGALURU: A shocking event took place at Gokarna, when few men who allegedly have been walking naked on the Gokarna beaches, the Karnataka women’s panel chief has urged the CM HD Kumaraswamy for implementing a dress code for male tourists.

In a letter, by the Karnataka State Women’s Commission chairperson NG Nagalakshmi Bai in which, she has asked the CM to up the vigil on the beaches of Karnataka where “there have been instances of men in nude indulging in revelry and posing a threat to women”. 

Nagalakshmi said, she wants the state government to implement a strict dress code for men on the beaches of Karnataka.

“Recently, I had been to the Gokarna beach where I saw nonchalant men roaming around in the nude. It is not just embarrassing for women and children, but also a serious security threat,” she said. 

The commission said it has no objection to revelry if the men wore proper beach attire like shorts, but they should never be allowed to walk naked, Bai added.
